Artwork Description

The Jungle Boys showcases a textile that most Singaporean men would be familiar with. This is the camouflaged gear that the army boys wear during their National Service. Singapore is a country that is made of so many different cultures. When I’ve given myself the challenge of finding a textile that is iconically Singaporean I initially thought of Chinese Silk, Indonesian Batik & Indian Saris but I was not completely satisfied with these choices. Yes, they are textiles that you may see here on a daily basis, they represent the different cultural groups, but they are not uniquely Singaporean. When looking for an identity that is truly Singaporean I pinpointed two. This artwork “Jungle Boys”, celebrates one of them. 《丛林男孩》展示了一般新加坡男性很都熟悉的织物——那就是男孩们在国民服役期间所穿的迷彩军装。

新加坡是一个多元文化的国家。当我在寻找具有新加坡标志性的纺织品时，我最初想到了中国丝绸、印度尼西亚蜡染布(Batik) 和印度纱丽，但我并不满意。是的，这些布料你可能每天都会见到，它们代表着不同的文化群体，但它们并非独属于新加坡。

在寻找真正新加坡身份象征的布料时，我锁定了两个选择。这件作品《丛林男孩》正是其中之一。如果你想知道第二种布料是什么，请留意我的姊妹作品——《新加坡女孩》。

Shipping & Delivery

For local orders, delivery and installation can be arranged.

For international orders, canvas artworks will be taken off the frame and delivered rolled up in a sturdy cardboard tube. Framing instructions will be included, which can be taken to any framer.
