Artwork Description

In ‘Beyond our World’ a white sculptural floral is highlighted by a backdrop of gold. This Sculptural white floral has a paper-like appearance, reminding the viewer of a Chinese paper cut out. The motif itself is inspired by Singapore’s famous batik uniform that is worn by the Singapore Airlines staff.  When I think of a fabric that is truly Singaporean this is a fabric that comes to mind, acting as a national ambassador. Given this important role it was only natural that this iconic pattern should be showcased in a regal capsule. While Singapore is a great example of a role model nation, ‘Beyond our World’ also points up and aspires to greater heights beyond our earthly limitations.

在《超越我们的世界》中，一朵白色雕塑花被金色背景衬托得熠熠生辉。这朵雕塑白花呈现出纸张般的质感，让观者联想到中国的剪纸艺术。

这一图案的灵感源自新加坡著名的蜡染 (Batik) 布料——是新加坡航空服务员所穿的制服。每当我想到具有新加坡特色的织物时，这件蜡染布料便浮现脑海，它宛如国家的文化大使。正因其重要的象征意义，这一经典图案理所当然地被呈现在华贵的艺术作品中。

虽然新加坡是一个出色的典范国家，《超越我们的世界》同时也象征我们向上仰望，追求超越尘世局限的更高境界。
